Post Secret If you haven’t yet encountered PostSecret in your wanderings through the information ether, it’s worth a look. PostSecret is a site where all are invited to anonymously send in their darkest secrets in the form of a decorated postcard, and the best selections are added to the site weekly. The sentiments range from humorous to bizarre to depressing, and are often accompanied by some fascinating artistic expression.

It’s been around for awhile now, long enough to have a traveling exhibit, and a book. Postcards don’t stay on the site for long, and there are no archives available… probably to encourage frequent visits.

The PostSecret invitation:

You are invited to anonymously contribute your secrets to PostSecret. Each secret can be a regret, hope, funny experience, unseen kindness, fantasy, belief, fear, betrayal, erotic desire, feeling, confession, or childhood humiliation. Reveal anything – as long as it is true and you have never shared it with anyone before.

See the site for the legalese, and for the address to send your postcard to once you’ve wrung your heart out upon it.

Surprisingly, even the initial shock of the site when you first see it wears off. I’ve been looking at the postcards for the past few months and few of the damaging ones really affect me anymore – I’m more interested in the unique and interesting ones.

My first time writing on a blog! I wanted to comment on the Lobotomy piece presented on NPR, however, I suppose it’s out. I’m here now at the site and to be very honest, I find them refreshing. In a world of lies and white lies one never knows. Not that we should tell the truth to the extent that Lucy did on that episode where she had to tell the absolute truth for the day, but even Lucy got into the liberation of it.

I tend to be too truthful at times, losing any sense of real tact. I’m working on it.
I just may feel bold enough to post something there and see if I fell euphoric afterwards.

I agree. This site is definitely interesting and I appreciate most of the articles even if a few of them are biased and editorialized (both within your creative right).

Seasoning your thoughts with a grain of salt isn’t telling less truth. Just making it easier to hear;)
