It's a fun story, but the bottom line is it's a ranch house built on a sunken barge, occupied by a reclusive family. One must wonder about the mental health of anyone who lives in such isolation over a long term. Think "Castaway".

I think it's quite weird that they have their own country and could theoretically host anything at all -- yet choose to put all these rules on their Web hosting customers?! WTF?

I think that the "HavenCo" company is now gone, their domain redirecting to another company which seemed to have bought it. What a shame.

Anyway -- that little island still is able to collect firearms and grow/stockpile drugs freely... Too bad it's a shithole.

Enter your reply text here.Yeah! What the hell? Oh wait, reality prevails.

Sealand Internet Laws from HavenCo's web site
"The Principality of Sealand is a non-DMCA country. However, it's information services are government regulated and specifically exclude activities such as:

No pornography that would be considered illegal within the EU.

No infringement of copyright. This includes warez sites and listing sites that index copyrighted material.

No SPAM or unsolicited advertising, including opt-out e-mail lists.

No hacking including port scans or network vulnerability testing, distributing viruses, phishing sites.

No material that is obscene, threatening, abusive, libelous, or encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense. "

This really an interesting article. I understand that now the Royal Family and rest of the Island's population are living in mainland UK. I have read that the people's of Sealand haven't paid taxes to the UK Government for years. And I know the founder of the tiny Constitutional Monarchy of Sealand is now in bad health conditions. I wonder if the whole of the family and inhabitants make good use of the NHS which funded by the taxes that instead WE all have to pay, or if they actually pay for their own health care --considering that they are not even part of the EU, and therefore they shouldn't enjoy free health care at all, unless, e.g, full-time studends. My question applies to most public services they make use of when in the UK. And especially, in case they pay, if clinics and doctors accept payments in Sealand Dollars... which I doubt. Ideas?
