Seriously though, it happens all the time. Waaay back some friends and I used to organise parties, 400 – 500 people. The object was not to make money but to have the kind of party that we would like to be at ourselves. It was semi-private, i.e. you had to be invited by one of us or by someone already invited and you paid a small cover charge which was calculated to let the party pay for itself. Passes sold in advance but not at the door and you got a great space, an indoor and an outdoor dancefloor, places to lounge, finger food (that you paid for as it was provided by an outside contractor) but free open bar. The only thing was that we had a system of time-outs for the bar where every two hours for half an hour they would only serve water. We wanted people to be having fun, staying hydrated and not get too drunk. The abuse though that the bar staff got during those time-outs!!

Your writing and sense of humor have been a joy to me and my family members I have shared it with. I still check the site daily in hopes that the Phoenix has risen from the ashes and I will continue to do so.

Alan, I hope that you are able to rekindle the flame that drove you to create such a great site. If you are not able, thanks for all that you have been able to give.
