Waves/ rain/ a quill writing.. they might be fine as framing a section of text, but quite disturbing when played in parallel to the narration. I appreciate the gesture but I think it adds neither information nor aesthetics. I had to stop listening to this one somewhere in the middle as I was doing something in parallel and the difficulty of listening made it impossible for me to do both, but given the accolades here I’m looking forward to get back to the story.
It would be wonderful if a new version could be rereleased with the background noises greatly attenuated. I think in other DI podcast episodes there also was music/ SFX but that they were unobtrusive and to the vantage of the piece, so think these could certainly be well employed. I suppose a multichannel file still exists somewhere. It would be pity if the good writing would not be easily offered in audio form, too, and that touchy listeners with shitty earphones would not be able to be recipients.
Thank you!
