Apparently this whole “legend” began when he killed Sioux warrior and had a bit of his liver left on his knife, so Johnson asked if anyone “wanted a bite”.

If you want to read about another man who led an incredible life, I suggest Simon Kenton. He was featured in “The Frontiersmen” by Allan Eckert.

(Final note: My mother’s maiden name was Hatcher. I might be distantly related to John Hatcher.)

Garrison, please give more details! Are all the stories made up, including the Blackfoot wife and the Crow revenge, or are some of them true?

He didn’t murder anyone. The Crow sent warriors out to kill him one at a time over the course of 24 years after killing his family. He was continually ambushed… but was badass enough to defeat everyone. A far cry from you social warriors who curl up and wimper at any wiff of offense.

The British diet = tea and crumpets. The American diet = raw squirrel meat and whiskey.

Did this guy actually want revenge, or was he just looking for an excuse to start a career as a serial killer?
