And he couldn’t do basic math ($500 check vs a bunch of $1’s). It seems odd that such a person could be bribed.

I especially like all of the historic detail included, such as when you wrote about the Milwaukee Brewers who later moved on to become another club- therefore had no relation to the current Brewers, who knew!!

But I do want to ask this, did any other readers try and figure out a diagnosis for old Rube? I mean, was it severe ADHD? He kind’ve acted like a kid who couldn’t really take care of himself, but on the other hand, risked his life to save others! And that’s what makes him damn interesting!

There were a few other times in his career where he went to stay with his parents for some length of time while he tried to get his life back under control, so it probably made the most sense for him to be close to family near the end as well. Thanks for reading!

After all his dedication to the game and to the Athletics for so many years, why was San Antonio selected as his final resting place? I’m going to visit him soon.

It being specifically the temperature of cold water is an old wives’ tale, but unpurified water has a high risk of carrying the virus that causes pneumonia, I believe.

Somehow you’ve managed to make an entire article on baseball be damn interesting, well done.
