Damn Interesting Problems

Due to a glitch of unknown origin which resulted in some data loss, there will be a slight delay before the next Damn Interesting article appears. We uttered more vulgarities than you can swing a dead cat at, but it was a fruitless effort. Well, very little fruit.

Sorry for the delay… but in the interim you can always consume a random, cryogenically-stored article from the archives.

Alan Bellows is the founder, designer, and managing editor of DamnInteresting.com, and he is perpetually behind schedule.

Alan – a suggestion: along with the ‘previous’ and ‘next’ links under the top bar, I think it’d be a good idea to center that ‘wl-randompost.php’ link between them…

Have you tried percussive maintenance? If it doesn’t work, at least it expresses your frustrations.

#4 JPF 01 July 2006 at 12:58 pm

We will wait for you to come back!

Yeah, don’t worry, Alan. People need to learn to have a little patience these days. :-)

#8 Marisa Brook 01 July 2006 at 08:51 pm

Sure it is. ‘A glitch of unknown origin’! It’s an engima. It fits right into our ‘Mysterious’ category!

Well…er…maybe not. But I tried.

We get stood up by DI! Now that is Damn Interesting. There just might be a story in all this if it is printable.

#11 another viewpoint 02 July 2006 at 05:43 am

…shoot, just chalk the problems up to those nasty little boogers…gremlins!

#12 Nonesuch 02 July 2006 at 07:23 am

Fruitless seems right… who is this aforementioned dead cat and why would I wish to swing it at uttered vulgarities?…. my recollection is that dead cats are best swung in cemeteries for good effect and that the cat swung in reference to hitting any abundance of objects (vulgar or not) is derived from the cat’o nine tails… just hoping more info is a step toward resolving unknown origins or glitches themselves, and perhaps refining an already very fine blog in some small fruity (kiwi?) way.

Hey! This works out for me! I’ve been out of town for the last three days so this means I don’t have to catch up on anything!

#14 Sylph-DS 03 July 2006 at 05:59 am

I saw it posted on reddit.

You’re kidding, right? This is all Canada’s fault!

Beautiful reference to “The Simpsons” up there Allan. No matter how technical or scientific we all get you can always find a common denominator in The Simpsons. If nothing suggested above helps then remember Homers famous words of wisdom…..

“Donuts, is there anything they can’t do?”

I generated a random article and got this… o_O
